Jackets Fall To Pointers in WIAC Semifinals

The UW-Superior women’s hockey team couldn’t get their offense going in a 1–0 loss to UW-Stevens Point. The loss to the Point­ers ended their sea­son. The Yel­low­jack­ets and Point­ers played even through three peri­ods as nei­ther team was able to break through until the final minute of the game. Pointer junior Megan Menotti buried an unas­sisted pow­er­play goal to break the score­less tie. The Jakcets were unable to put on past Pointer goal­tender Janna Beilke-Skoug. The Yel­low­jack­ets were 0–2 on the pow­er­play while the penalty kill man­aged to kill off four of the five Steven’s Point powerplays.

Yel­low­jack­ets senior goal­tender ended her career stop­ping 29 shots. She com­piled a career record of 37–21-12. Peters was cred­ited with a goal back on Novem­ber 15. The rar­ity makes her the first women’s goalie in the program’s his­tory to score a goal. Pointer goal­tender Bielke-Skoug stopped all 21 UWS shots.

Dani Schultz led the Jack­ets in scor­ing in the 2013–14 sea­son in scor­ing. Schultz, a junior, scored 12 goals and added 15 assists for a total of 27 points. Karen Lar­son was sec­ond on the team with 23 points notch­ing 11 goals and 12 assists.

The women’s hockey team grad­u­ates a total of six seniors this sea­son. The Yel­low­jack­ets fin­ish thier sea­son with a 14–7-6 record and a 4–4-4 record in the WIAC conference.
