17th Annual Cultural Night

The 17th annual Cultural Night will take place on November 16, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This event remains the largest student-organized event on the UW-Superior campus and is put on by the WSA club (World Student Association). This eventful night is described by its organizers as a way to, “Celebrate differences on campus, raise multicultural awareness, and build bridges among people from different walks of life.” This event is open to students as well as the public, including an international dinner and cultural show. The prices for the dinner and show vary. A non-student for dinner and the show is $15.00, a student for the dinner and show is $9.00, children under 5 are $5.00, non-students for only the show are $10.00, and students for only the show are $5.00. The dinner is in the Yellowjacket Union/YU Great Room from 5:00–7:00 PM and houses food from around the world, offering everyone a chance to try unique food from different cultures.

The cultural show takes place in the Thorpe Langley Auditorium in Old Main on the UW Superior campus lasting from 7:00 PM to 9:00PM. The show begins with an international flag ceremony, presenting flags from all of the countries represented here at UW-Superior. The flags are generally carried by students from the particular country by the flag they are holding. A fashion show is included into the show as well, demonstrating the traditional attire from select countries. The remainder of the show is filled with various cultural performances including singing, dancing, and many other interesting talents. So be sure to check out Cultural Night November 16 at 5:00 PM, it is guaranteed to immerse you into a new world of cultural diversity and fill your night with entertainment.
