After three non-conference sweeps last week, the UW-Superior women’s volleyball team will play host to three WIAC opponents this week at Mertz Morterelli Gymnasium in the Marcovich Wellness Center beginning on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets will look to ride a three game winning streak into this week.
The Yellowjackets swept Finlandia, Lakehead and Crown last week convincingly in straight sets and improve to 13–5 overall.
On Wednesday the Yellowjackets will host UW-Stout at 7 p.m. Both UW-Superior and UW-Stout are winless in WIAC play being 0–3 and 0–1 respectively. Stout is 12–5 overall. Last season the Jackets lost three sets to one to the Blue Devils.
On Friday, the Yellowjackets will play host to UW-LaCrosse at 7 p.m. LaCrosse is 5–8 overall on the year and 1–1 in WIAC play. The Yellowjackets defeated LaCrosse last year for one of their two conference victories.
Saturday afternoon UWS will host UW-Platteville at noon. The Pioneers are 7–11 overall and are also winless in WIAC play. The Jackets other conference victory last season came against Platteville.
With the three matches set for this week, the Jackets will look to climb out of the basement in the WIAC standings. They currently sit in last place. UW-Oshkosh currently sits atop the standings in the conference.
