UWS Women’s Basketball honored by Chancellor, Mayor

Brad Phenow — The Stinger

Even though their season concluded nearly three weeks ago, the team was brought together again on Tuesday. The team was recognized by the Chancellor of the University, Dr. Renee Watcher, as well as Superior Mayor, Bruce Hagan.

The Lady Yellowjackets were being honored for their record-setting season. The Womens Basketball team set three records this year, winning the most games in a season (19), hosting their first-ever home-playoff game, and finishing as one of the top four teams in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). This years impressive season included wins over UW-Whitewater, UW-Stevens Point, and two over UW-Eau Claire (first time since 1987 that they had beaten the Eau Claire).

Mayor Hagan announced that March 12, will now be “UW-Superior Women’s Basketball Day” in the city of Superior, WI.
