UWS Basketball looks to finish strong gearing up for playoffs

The UWS men’s and women’s bas­ket­ball team will close their reg­u­lar sea­son trav­el­ing to UW-La Crosse hop­ing to end their reg­u­lar sea­son play on a win­ning note.

The women’s team head into their final game hop­ing to improve an over­all record of 18–6, and 10–5 con­fer­ence record. The lady Jacket’s have outscored their oppo­nent 1,603 to 1,441 this sea­son. The Jack­ets are led by Sally Linzmeier who has 406 points and Con­nie Urman­ski with 280 points. The Jack­ets were suc­cess­ful ear­lier this sea­son against UW– La Crosse win­ning 80–57. The women’s team cur­rently sits in fourth place in the WIAC standings.

The men’s team who are on a two game los­ing skid, plan on improv­ing their over­all record of 9–15, and 5–10 con­fer­ence record, in their final reg­u­lar sea­son game. The Jacket’s fell to UW-La Crosse 58–69 ear­lier this sea­son. The men’s team has been outscored by their oppo­nents 1,655 to 1,793. The Jack­ets point lead­ers include Jarred Peter­son who has tal­lied 348 points and Bron­son Byrne with 283 points. The men’s team cur­rently sits in sixth place in the WIAC standings.

The men will play first, at 3:00 p.m., and the women to fol­low at 5:00 p.m., both games will be held at Mitchell Hall Gym­na­sium, on the UW– La Crosse campus.
