UWS Basketball looks to finish strong gearing up for playoffs

The UWS men’s and women’s basketball team will close their regular season traveling to UW-La Crosse hoping to end their regular season play on a winning note.

The women’s team head into their final game hoping to improve an overall record of 18-6, and 10-5 conference record. The lady Jacket’s have outscored their opponent 1,603 to 1,441 this season. The Jackets are led by Sally Linzmeier who has 406 points and Connie Urmanski with 280 points. The Jackets were successful earlier this season against UW- La Crosse winning 80-57. The women’s team currently sits in fourth place in the WIAC standings.

The men’s team who are on a two game losing skid, plan on improving their overall record of 9-15, and 5-10 conference record, in their final regular season game. The Jacket’s fell to UW-La Crosse 58-69 earlier this season. The men’s team has been outscored by their opponents 1,655 to 1,793. The Jackets point leaders include Jarred Peterson who has tallied 348 points and Bronson Byrne with 283 points. The men’s team currently sits in sixth place in the WIAC standings.

The men will play first, at 3:00 p.m., and the women to follow at 5:00 p.m., both games will be held at Mitchell Hall Gymnasium, on the UW- La Crosse campus.
