Business as usual at SGA.

Student Government Association meeting on Monday was remarkably brief and to the point.

Chancellor Wachter’s report included an invitation to the Open Budget Forum on Tuesday at noon in Erlenbach Auditorium of Swenson Hall. Wachter reminded the SGA about last year’s budget lapse and University of Wisconsin – Superior returning $700,000 to the state from the existing budget, and the need to return another $300,000 for this year. The budget forum will include an update on the current financial state of UWS.

Chancellor Wachter continued with a report on the flexible degree program that is being developed by the UW system under direction from the Governor’s office and in coordination with UW-Extension. The program is geared towards working adults, allowing them to get college level credit for knowledge gained outside of the classroom.

The SGA passed a resolution calling for a cross-campus sustainability committee, looking into ways to make the UWS campus a more ecologically friendly environment. The resolution, asking for a voting student representation of one-third on the committee passed unanimously, and will be forwarded on to all relevant governing bodies.

And finally, Director Hansberry announced that there will be a special student admission price of $5 for roller derby at the DECC on Friday at 7 p.m.
